A Statement of Support for Councilmember Joe Pradetto

***************

Councilmember Joe Pradetto has been a strong and consistent supporter of our Log Cabin chapter, and we are grateful for the time he continues to spend listening to and engaging with our members.  Just this past week, we had the opportunity to speak with him directly on several occasions, including when he joined us at our holiday celebration for our community of LGBT members.  His message is clear and sincere with a goal of bringing people together by focusing on what we share, rather than what divides us.

Unfortunately, some recent posts and articles have mischaracterized his intentions and platform.  Claims that he is working against the gay community simply do not align with our lived experience.  Those of us who know Joe personally know him as a consistent presence, a genuine ally, and someone we are proud to call a friend.

As Log Cabin Republicans, we believe equality means having a seat at the table – not being placed on a pedestal.  The LGBT community has made remarkable progress over the past several decades through inclusion, fairness, and equal treatment under the law.  We honor that progress with pride while recognizing that true equality means being treated the same as every other citizen.

Joe Pradetto is not the person social media has portrayed.  He is a familiar and welcome presence in our community attending a variety of events and celebrating holidays alongside us.  Even his kids have been at our events.  He shows up consistently, listens thoughtfully, and engages with sincerity.  That matters, and we appreciate it.

It’s also worth noting that some of the same voices now attacking Councilmember Pradetto targeted our LGBT organization earlier this year simply for existing and perceived differing views.  When planning a non-political event, we were met with threats, doxing, and harassment directed at our leadership, members, and even the hosting business.  The people upset over this current situation stating that they want acceptance had previously told us that we were not welcome in their spaces.  An incident that escalated to national media attention.  We made sincere efforts to engage in conversation with those leading these campaigns, hoping to set aside differences and find common ground.  Unfortunately, those conversations were not welcomed.  Instead, we were blocked on social media and continued to be unfairly misrepresented.  The same people who demand to be heard and seen… yet they refuse to treat others in a similar way.  That experience reinforced why many of us value leaders who choose dialogue over outrage and unity over division.

Our chapter began as a social space for gay conservatives, but it has grown into something broader and more diverse.  We welcome straight allies, independents, and others who are seeking respectful dialogue, open-minded conversation, and genuine community.  They come not because of labels, but because they value connection and shared humanity.

This is the kind of unity Palm Desert, and our country needs more: neighbors first, respectful conversations, and a focus on what brings us together.  Visibility and history matter, and the progress our community has made is undeniable.  At the same time, many of us choose to live forward, embracing the reality that we are fully integrated, visible, and valued members of our city.  We are visible and we have been embraced with or without a flag.

The Coachella Valley Log Cabin Republicans stand in support of Councilmember Joe Pradetto.  We support his call for fairness, government neutrality, and community unity.  Our community fought for equal rights and achieved them.  We are neighbors and active participants in civic life.

We applaud Councilmember Pradetto for his leadership and his commitment to unity, and we support a vision where we move forward together as neighbors, as a community, and as Americans first.

 Respectfully,
The Board of Directors
Log Cabin Republicans of the Coachella Valley

What a night!  Thank you to everyone who came out this weekend to our Holiday Soirée in Palm Springs - it was truly an incredible way to celebrate the season and close out the year. The conversations, the laughter, the energy… it all reminded us why this community is growing and why it matters. We’re grateful for every one of you who showed up, dressed up, brought friends, and helped make the evening such a success. We couldn’t have asked for a better celebration.

An extra special thank you to our elected officials who are allies and friends.  As Log Cabin Republicans, we believe equality means having a seat at the table, not being placed on a pedestal.  The LGBT community has made remarkable progress over the past several decades through inclusion, fairness, and equal treatment under the law.  We honor that progress with pride while recognizing that true equality means being treated the same as every other citizen.  Our chapter began as a social space for gay conservatives, but it has grown into something broader and more diverse.  We’ve welcomed straight allies, independents, and a surprising number of new democrat friends who have found themselves pushed out of their community seeking respectful dialogue, open-minded conversation, and genuine community.  They all come not because of labels, but because they value connection and shared humanity.  This is the kind of unity our valley, and our country, needs more of: neighbors first, respectful conversations, and a focus on what brings us together.  Visibility and history matter, and the progress our community has made is undeniable.

🔹 A Look Back at 2025 — What a Year!🔹

This year has been one of growth, momentum, and a little bit of unexpected help from the universe.  Our socials became more active — and noticeably larger — thanks in part to some “free promotion” from a few local Facebook groups who tried to make things difficult for us. Their efforts only helped bring in more new faces, more conversations, and more community. We’ll take it!

Here are some standout moments from the year...

🍷 April — Wine Tasting with Liberty Cellars
We hosted a fantastic wine tasting featuring Liberty Cellars at a private residence with 30 people attending. It was intimate, fun, and one of our most talked-about events of the year.

🍳 June — Brunch at La Quinta Brewing Co.
We held a packed brunch where several elected officials came out to meet our members and connect with the community. It was one of our biggest turnouts and a milestone moment.

🏊‍♂️ September — Pool Party
Our pool party was hands-down one of the most enjoyable days of the year, held at a beautiful private venue with great food, music, and people. We’re already working on returning to that location next year.

🌵 Socials, Meetups & Member Connections
Throughout the year, our regular socials grew steadily, welcoming new members, supporters, friends, and curious neighbors. The energy and connections you all bring are what make this group thrive.  Our October social had over 70 RSVP's!

Thank you for making 2025 such a meaningful and fun year for Log Cabin Coachella Valley!
